Glen Washington

Glen Washington is a Jamaican reggae and soca singer, songwriter, drummer, and record producer. He's known for his early hit "Rockers Not Crackers" (1978) and his resurgence in the late 1990s with "Kindness For Weakness" (1998). His music blends roots reggae with influences from R&B, soul, and gospel, and his lyrics often touch on themes of love, unity, and social justice.

Glen Washington's musical journey began in the early 1970s. He started as a singer and drummer, playing with various bands, including C35 Incorporated, where he learned drums from Joseph Hill (later of Culture). He toured extensively as a drummer, backing artists like Gregory Isaacs and Shinehead. In 1997, he released his debut album, "Brother to Brother", solidifying his solo career. Washington's first hit, "Rockers Not Crackers," came in 1978. He continued to hone his skills as a singer and drummer, working with various artists and bands. After years of touring and supporting other artists, Washington returned to the forefront with his 1998 hit, "Kindness For Weakness". Washington's music is rooted in traditional reggae but incorporates elements of R&B, soul, and gospel. His smooth, raspy vocals have often been compared to Beres Hammond.
